Rashanim

Rashanim is a ‘Jewish Power Trio’ led by guitarist and composer Jon Madof, with Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz (bass, oud) and Mathias Künzli (drums, percussion). Combining the intensity of rock with the spontaneity of improvisation, deep Middle Eastern grooves, and mystical Jewish melodies, they recorded four albums for John Zorn’s Tzadik Records between 2003-2009. Zorn calls Rashanim “one of the most exciting young bands exploring New Jewish Music.” Lyrical and beautiful, Rashanim joyfully celebrates the Jewish experience with passion, lyricism and a profound sensitivity.
